Make it better – meet the subsurface superstars from our Lloydminster Thermal operations
At Cenovus Energy, performance matters, and identifying areas for continuous improvement is one of our values that guides how we behave and make decisions every day.
An example of our make it better value in action took place in our Lloydminster operations located in west-central Saskatchewan. When our Development and Production Subsurface teams came together to take on the complex task of optimizing the operational and development strategies across our Lloydminster thermal assets following the Cenovus/Husky combination, they began a journey that elevated our performance.
Their first step was to compile and merge legacy best practices to ensure operations continued to run smoothly. After that, they focused on optimization by leveraging integration to push boundaries, analyze performance and apply their learnings, such as implementing a non-compressible gas strategy and infrastructure, allowing for increased oil production. The team’s proactive approach, collaboration and expertise helped to safely improve production rates, bolster reliability and notably increase the net asset value of our Lloydminster thermal properties.
This example of living our values led the team to receive a 2023 President’s Award. Launched in 2022, the President’s Awards are the highest form of staff recognition we have at Cenovus, acknowledging teams and individuals who demonstrate our values through everyday actions and behaviours.
